| Cookset |
GSI Outdoors Bugaboo teflon mess
kit |
Nice little set; two
teflon coated pans, plastic cup and bowl. The pans are large
enough to fry up bacon or quesadillas, both highly recommended camp
foods. |

Snow Peak
Titanium Cookset |
A new addition - two
small pots plus a small fry pan; a cookset for my "solitary"
adventures. Coupled with the aluminum can stove and Primus tea
kettle it shaves off almost 1.5 pounds vs. the Svea and GSI mess kit |

Primus Litech Coffee/Tea
Kettle |
Very efficient piece of
gear for boiling water. The wide bottom captures a majority of
stove "flame" and the lid keeps the heat in. Not quite a
Jetboil system, but works well nonetheless. |

Foam
insulated plastic mug |
A "standard"
insulated plastic mug with the snap on lid. A must for the tea or coffee
drinker |

| Stove |
Optimus Svea 123 |
A bit antiquated in appearance, a
bit heavier than the rest, but highly dependable. The variable
flame makes this a useful piece of gear for more "complex" cooking
assignments. |

| Stove #2 |
"aluminum can" alcohol stove |
I recently acquired a
hand-made aluminum can stove which I saw in action on one of my
recent trips. Stove, pot stand, and windscreen weigh in at
approximately 2 ounces. I am absolutely overwhelmed with this
little jewel. I can also fit the stove, stand, and windscreen into
my Primus tea kettle which eliminates bulk as well. The Svea will be
getting a rest except for car camping trips, methinks. **
During an "in garage" test, I was able to boil 750 ml of water in
the Primus tea kettle in 6 minutes. **Trail test: On the
Silers Bald trip this stove performed perfectly, even in
temperatures as low as 10 degrees. Just takes a little longer
to prime (30 - 60 seconds). |
